2/8/17

-Before the vote to confirm DeVoss, Boss Tweet tweeted, "Betsy DeVoss is a reformer, and she is going to be a great EducationSec. for our kids."  Aw shucks.  I can just see Boss Tweet swinging his fist through the air as a sign of his untrammeled optimism and faith in "our kids."  Of course, you realize that by "our kids," he literally means children like his vacuous son who get to go to private schools and well-funded and poorly regulated charter schools.  Those other "kids," the ones who are stuck going to the decimated public schools of TrumpWorld?  Fuck 'em.  They're poor.  They don't vote.  Whatever becomes of them is their fault for being so lazy.

-In keeping with that Trumped up spirit, the U.S. House of Reps voted to kill a federal rule that gives Americans more of a voice in large-scale planning for projects using public land.  This would effect 8.4 million acres in Colorado.

-In Boss Tweet's panicked reaction to his immigration set back, he has provided  a seemingly random list of "terrorist" attacks around the world.  It is interesting to note that no where on his list does he include any attacks that harmed non-Western victims.  In 2015, three quarters of all deaths from terrorist attacks happened in Afghanistan, Iraq, Nigeria, Pakistan, and Syria.  The vast majority of those deaths were Muslims.  The only attack in Pakistan, for instance, the Trump list mentions is a knife attack that wounded a U.S. citizen.  According a Washington Post analysis, 658 people were killed in 46 attacks in Europe and the Americas since 2015; 28,031 have been killed in 2,063 attacks in the rest of the world (read:  places where Muslims and people of color live).  It just goes to show you that when Boss Tweet talks about under reporting, he knows whereof he speaks.

-56% of Democrats in a recent poll want to play like they're Republicans and block everything Trump tries.  I  understand the motivation, but I don't think Democrats, people who actually approve of government, will be able to muster the devotion to party over country that Republicans are so good at.

-Interesting that Yemen will no longer allow U.S. ground troops.  The U.S. used Yemen as a staging area for our war on ISIS.  Boss Tweet so far has not responded to this.  Sad.

-Joe Biden has been named the Benjamin Franklin Presidential Practice professor at U. Penn.  Makes me want to rematriculate.

-Spicer, in a recent presser, has added Atlanta to Bowling Green as a place where fictional terrorist attacks happened in his latest pathetic effort to explain his boss to the media.

-As long as we're talking about bald faced lies, Boss Tweet said yesterday that the murder rate in the U.S. is the highest in 45 years.  Not so much.  According to the FBI, the murder rate in our country is the lowest it has been in five decades.  Trump is ignoring that FACT because it won't help him when he decides to declare martial law in all those cities that voted against him.
